About Shannon Black

Shannon Black - Silver Echos

Artist Bio

Born in Hamilton, New Zealand, Shannon moved to Australia at the age of 15, where she discovered her passion for making images with light in the darkroom at her high school.  She got her degree in Visual Arts from Queensland College of Art, Australia under the tutelage of Fine Art Photographers and QCA professors Jay Younger and Marian Drew.

After graduation, Shannon moved to Melbourne, Australia where she continued to make work and exhibit in group shows and galleries.  In 2016, she relocated to Los Angeles where she discovered a love of filmmaking and began to shoot experimental films, as well as working as a cinematography on countless shorts, music videos and two feature films.

Her work now often combines the two mediums as she explores the symbiotic between the still and moving image.
