My Story
I was born in New Zealand in the 70s. Yes, the 1970s - an entire half century ago. Since my parents, for some reason, refused to buy a 4 year old a camera, I had a plastic box (pictured) that I would that i would use as an imaginary camera to take imaginary photos with. As far as my ouvre goes, this probably remains my lifes best work.
Many years later, I was finally entrusted with real cameras and was able to start making work that existed outside my brain.
At 16 I discovered how incredible it was to develop your own photos in a darkroom and when it was time to go to University, I chose Fine Art Photography as my area of study. Eventually I found my way to Los Angeles and now I sometimes get to shoot real music videos. You can check out my film work on my YouTube channel.
Artist Statement:
My work explores the interplay of light, shadow, and texture to evoke a sense of longing and melancholy. I find inspiration in the beauty of decay and the passage of time, using layered imagery to create dreamlike and evocative scenes. Through my art, I aim to connect with viewers on an emotional level, inviting them to experience a range of feelings, from joy and wonder to sorrow and introspection.
